About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced Actuary to lead commercial pricing initiatives and rate filings across multiple states and lines of business for a prominent insurance client of ours.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Pricing Projects: Oversee rate making processes, develop pricing indications, and ensure underwriting profitability.
  • Rate Filing Leadership: Manage filings end-to-end—from research and compilation to approval and implementation. Respond to DOI objections and interact with regulatory authorities.
  • Product Development: Support new product strategies, design, and pricing. Drive process improvements and provide actuarial insights to leadership.
  • Data Analysis & Tools: Perform rate adequacy reviews, reserve analysis, and develop pricing/reserving tools. Ensure robust data validation and automation.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with accounting, external actuaries, auditors, and internal teams to deliver accurate financial statements and actuarial opinions.
  • Future Growth: Potential to manage actuarial analyst teams as the role evolves.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years of insurance experience
    , ideally with 4 years in commercial pricing
    .
  • Prior personal lines experience acceptable if currently working in commercial lines.
  • Exposure to multiple states preferred; strong experience in key jurisdictions (e.g., Florida) highly valued.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Advanced proficiency in Excel, Access
    , and strong programming experience (
    SQL, R, Python, VBA
    ).
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead projects and manage competing priorities.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with DOI requirements and experience responding to objections is a strong plus.
  • Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Risk Management, or related field.
  • ACAS preferred
    , commitment to FCAS desired but not required.
