Position will be filled at $2,642.97 Biweekly ($68,717.22 annually) and is non-negotiable.

The Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) is Florida’s chief health policy and planning entity.

The Agency is responsible for the oversight and administration of the Florida Medicaid program, the licensure and regulation of nearly 50,000 health care facilities and empowering consumers through health care transparency initiatives and ensuring the safety of Florida’s most vulnerable citizens.

Under the direction of Agency Secretary Shevaun L. Harris, the Agency is focused on advancing Governor DeSantis’ vision for Florida’s health care system to be the most cost-effective, transparent, and high-quality health care system in the nation.

The General Counsel’s Office provides support to the Agency to assist with carrying out its mission.

Working under the direction of the Chief Legal Counsel, Deputy General Counsel and General Counsel, the senior attorney is responsible for applying his or her legal expertise to handle litigation, to research federal and state licensure issues, to conduct discovery, and to prepare legal pleadings and briefs.

The attorney must be able to assimilate and analyze a variety of legislation and legal concepts relating to licensure issues.

• Handle administrative litigation before the DOAH and the Agency on licensure issues pertaining to health care facilities.
• Assist with legal research in evaluating state statutes and preparation of legal opinions on questions relating to the licensure of various types of medical and long-term care facilities.
• Prepare and draft routine pleadings, briefs, agreements, and related legal documents pertaining to licensure.
• Provide legal counsel on behalf of the Agency on legal matters related to the licensure program; interprets state and federal legislation related to facilities licensure matters.
• Perform legal research concerning the interpretation of Florida Statutes and the Florida Administrative Code on health care facilities licensure matters in question.
• Perform other related duties as required.
