Responsibilities

  • Associate General Counsel is principally responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and representing University interests in litigation and providing general legal advice on myriad matters affecting the University. .
  • The position will be responsible for providing legal advice to the University Board of Trustees, President, Academic Deans and Department Heads, and other senior officials and staff on myriad matters affecting the University.
  • This position will serve as principal University legal counsel in coordinating, monitoring, and advising on student issues, including advising Student Affairs and Student Conduct and Community Standards, Title IX and International Programs.
  • This position will provide legal support and advice on contracts and affiliation agreements.
  • This position will provide legal support and advice, as needed, related to FERPA, HIPAA, ADA, the First Amendment, Student Organizations, public records, academic issues, investigations, compliance, intellectual property and research issues, and employment issues.
  • This position will serve as University counsel in coordinating, monitoring and representing University interests in litigation.
  • This position will represent the University before administrative bodies, such as DOAH, OCR, and FCHR, as well as in federal and state courts.

Qualifications
  • Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school; active member in good standing of The Florida Bar with at least two years in law practice.
