Role Description The Attorney will provide legal counsel to the Town of McIntosh on a wide range of municipal matters, including governance, contracts, land use, ordinances, and regulatory compliance. responsibilities include drafting and reviewing legal documents,and advising elected officials and staff during meetings. The Attorney will research applicable laws and regulations, assess legal risks, and propose practical solutions that support the Town's objectives while minimizing exposure.

Additional tasks may include representing the Town in negotiations or proceedings, coordinating with outside counsel when necessary, and delivering clear written and oral legal guidance to various stakeholders. This is a full-time on-site role located in McIntosh, FL.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in municipal, administrative, or public sector law, including experience interpreting local, state, and federal statutes and regulations.
  • Strong legal research, analysis, and writing abilities, with experience drafting contracts, ordinances, policies, and formal legal opinions.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly to non-legal audiences and collaborate with elected officials and staff.
  • Sound judgment, ethical decision-making, and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a public service environment.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in the State of Florida (or eligibility for prompt admission).
  • Prior experience working with or for a local government, public agency, or similar entity is highly beneficial.
  • Familiarity with public records laws, open meetings requirements, and procurement rules is preferred.
