the florida gaming control commission is responsible for exercising all regulatory and executive powers of the state with respect to legal gaming, including pari-mutuel wagering, cardrooms, slot machine facilities, oversight of gaming compacts, and other forms of gambling authorized by state law, excluding the lottery, as well as directly enforcing florida’s gaming laws and combating illegal gambling activities.

The mission of the florida gaming control commission is to preserve and protect the integrity of gaming activities through fair regulation, licensing, effective criminal investigation, and enforcement.

position duties and responsibilities:the office of general counsel supports the commission by providing legal counsel on all matters under the commission’s jurisdiction and prosecuting noncompliance with florida’s gambling laws.
as a senior attorney in the litigation unit, you will play a crucial role in all aspects of administrative and civil litigation, including: advising the commission on a variety of complex legal issues involving permitting, licensure, and compliance with florida gambling laws; conducting legal research, drafting charging documents and appellate briefs, and engaging in motion practice; representing the commission in administrative and civil courts;
and presenting cases in front of the commission at scheduled meetings.
this position will operate under the supervision of a chief attorney.

- admission to the florida bar;
- two (2) years of professional experience in the practice of law, legal research, teaching law or in administrative or judicial hearings; and
- a valid driver's license.
- experience with florida’s administrative procedure act or criminal law is preferred, but not required.
