Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize restrooms and dressing rooms to include all fixtures, faucets, drain pipes, mirrors, commodes, sinks, urinals, window sills, ledges, air vents, floors and walls daily.
- Clean windows, window ledges, furniture and equipment in all assigned areas daily.
- Sweep or vacuum and mop hard surfaces of assigned rooms and corridors daily.
- Vacuum and spot clean assigned carpeted rooms and hallways daily.
- Empty and clean trash cans in all assigned areas daily.
- Assist in maintaining the inventory of custodial supplies, tools and materials.
- Assist in the supervision of the physical security of the facility as required.
- Provide emergency cleanup for spills and mishaps throughout the facility.
- Inspect building lighting fixtures daily.
- Assist in the operation of the facility HVAC system as required.
- Assist in setting up facilities for meetings and workshops as required.
- Perform minor maintenance repairs as assigned.
- Participate in casualty prevention tests and inspections as required.
- Patrol facility and grounds to pick up and prevent the accumulation of litter daily.
- Assist with grounds maintenance as required.
- Proficient in the use of custodial equipment and cleaning chemicals.
- Possess knowledge of OSHA standards relating to assignment.
- Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to assume assigned responsibilities and work harmoniously with others.
- Ability to organize and prioritize.
- Ability to work at a fast pace and to stand for long periods of time.
- Communicate effectively with staff and administration.
- Keep supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
- Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
- Provide for a safe and secure workplace.
- Model and maintain high ethical standards.
- Follow attendance, punctuality and proper dress rules.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding school matters.
- Maintain positive relationships with staff.
- Participate in workshops and training sessions as required.
- Prepare all required reports and maintain all appropriate records.
- Follow all School Board policies and school policies and procedures.
- Exhibit interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member.
- Demonstrate support for the School District and its goals and priorities.
- Be clean, neat and professionally dressed
- Be consistently responsible—maintaining regular punctual attendance and timely completion of assigned duties, working assigned contract and extended days and using sick and personal leave appropriately.
- Maintain proper care and safe use of district equipment and property.
- Participate in required professional development and trainings as assigned or approved for professional job growth, to remain abreast of program requirements/responsibilities and to improve student educational services.
- Is familiar with and incorporates the use of technology as job responsibilities require.
- Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the supervisor or Superintendent of Schools, and are not prohibited by law or regulations.
- Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/ or up to 20 pounds of force as needed to move objects. - Sit, stand and walk for required periods of time.
- Reach/handle objects.
- Exposure to a variety of childhood and adult illnesses.
- Occasional exposure to a variety of weather conditions, including wet and/or humid ones; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
- Exposure to heated/air conditioned and ventilated facilities.
- Exposure to buildings in which a variety of chemicals are used for cleaning, instruction and/or operation of equipment.
- Function in a workplace that is usually moderately quiet but that can be noisy at times.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
