Location: Lecanto
The Grounds Maintenance Coordinator is a lead position performing and supervising skilled and semi-skilled work under limited supervision. Performs general maintenance and ground operations in parks, athletic fields, facilities, and buildings. The schedule for this full-time position is Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Will require weekend coverage and evening shifts.

Responsibilities- Supervises, plans, and coordinates work of assigned staff. Reviews and evaluates employee performance and completes performance evaluations. Counsels staff and initiates commendations or disciplinary action when appropriate.
- Leads, assists, and helps to supervise the grounds maintenance activities assigned to park operations, maintenance staff and other workers. Provides guidance, advice, and problem-solving assistance to effectively manage daily challenges and concerns.
- Assists with training and instructing staff regarding all aspects of operations and maintenance, including safety practices and operational procedures.
- Inspect all work completed by staff and contracted services to ensure high standards are met.
- Performs weekly irrigation inspections and active sports field inspections.
- Assists in coordinating materials, supplies, equipment, and personnel to ensure completion of operational and maintenance assignments.
- Makes general operating decisions and determines how to use equipment and staff in the absence of his/her supervisor.
- Maintain schedules, inventory and work assignments using an electronic work order system.
- Assists with public relations activities.
- Prepares and maintains records and reports, providing timely updates to supervision and administration through verbal and written communication.
- Drives and/or operates a county vehicle or equipment to complete tasks efficiently and must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.
- Performs other duties as required.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Five (5) years’ working experience with computers, required.
- At least four (4) years’ experience in turf industry and grounds maintenance, required.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Must be able to complete courses in turf grass maintenance or grounds maintenance once hired.
- Must have sufficient physical strength, agility, and stamina to perform assigned tasks under adverse conditions.
- Ability to use effectively standard maintenance equipment, medium construction equipment, and hand tools.
- Ability to work after normal business hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call duties.
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) in a clear, confident manner using proper grammar.
- Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.
- Must have strong working knowledge of computers and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of Products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Valid Florida Driver License or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida.
- Must have or be able to obtain within six (6) months of employment, Playground Safety Inspector certification.
- Must have or be able to obtain within six (6) months of employment, Florida Applicator License (Ornamental and Turf).
- Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days certification in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses:
