The Florida Department of Health is seeking a creative, organized, and motivated individual to become an essential member of the Bureau of Performance Assessment and Improvement (BPAI). Responsibilities

This professional position serves as the manager of the Strategic Planning Section in the Bureau of Performance Assessment and Improvement. The incumbent facilitates the development and update of the Agency Strategic Plan (ASP), manages the Department’s process of setting strategic direction, and establishes performance frameworks and metrics to track performance and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

As section manager, you will also: compete stakeholder engagement, facilitate planning sessions, analyze trends and data to inform decision making, and build capacity in planning, performance management and quality improvement components of the Department of Health's Performance Management System.

Agency Strategic Plan (ASP) Manager

Responsible for developing, assigning, monitoring and evaluating activities required to successfully implement the ASP. Lead working groups, provide technical support to individuals, and prepare and present quarterly ASP progress reports to Department leadership.

Training and Consultation

Provide training on planning, performance and quality improvement tools and methodologies, and offer consultation to State Health Office Divisions, Bureaus/Offices, and County Health Departments by responding to requests for technical assistance in planning, monitoring, reporting and performance management.

Process Improvement

Develop, implement, and enhance tools and resources needed for continuous quality improvement across the Department’s planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation processes, including web resources, training, best‑practice sharing and technical support.

Agency Performance Management Council (APMC) Meetings

Coordinate the Agency Performance Management Council meetings with the Quality Improvement Manager, convening regular meetings, setting agendas, gathering and analyzing performance data, and designing and implementing necessary APMC processes and systems.

Individual Development

Keep abreast of advances in strategic planning, performance improvement tools and techniques, quality improvement practices, and effective communication strategies.

Incumbent is assigned a Purchasing Card and will follow Florida Law and Department of Health purchasing policies and guidelines. Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Must be willing to physically come into the office to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
