The Work You Will Do

The primary function of this position is to manage the Division of State Purchasing’s training and certification program while communicating appropriate procedures, policies, and announcements related to procurement, purchasing, and contract management to agency customers, the supplier community, and any other applicable parties. This position also works closely with the agency’s legislative and policy teams to ensure the most up-to-date information is available to stakeholders throughout the state.

This role leads a team that manages over 6,000 concurrent certifications throughout the State of Florida. Those requiring or seeking training provided by the Professional Development and Communications Bureau are responsible for procuring and managing commodities and contractual services essential to the smooth operation of each state agency. Additionally, this position is responsible for acting as the department’s liaison for all procurement‑focused professional organizations at the local, state, national, and international level.

Up to $95,000 annually.

Your Specific Responsibilities
  • Develop, document, and maintain processes, procedures, and policies for the Division of State Purchasing.
  • Advise and assist the division, state agencies, and other governmental entities in the application of procurement policies.
  • Communicate legislative changes to stakeholders.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for the Division of State Purchasing. Train and coach, including stepping into classes, as necessary.
  • Direct updates to curriculum, policies, and procedures based on current or pending governance.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with professional procurement and contract management organizations.
  • Draft and approve communications to the Division’s stakeholders.
  • Act as a leader for your team and the Division of State Purchasing.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Minimum Qualifications
  • Two years of leadership experience.
