- A High School Diploma or equivalent; AND
- Five (5) years of professional, full-time-equivalent supervisory experience in Maintenance, Construction, or related field.
- Education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Directs and administers a building maintenance and service program, supervising a crew of Skilled Trades and helpers to include plumbers, painters, locksmiths, electricians, carpenters, masons, custodians and maintenance mechanics to perform work required in the alteration, repair and maintenance of buildings and facilities. Work is accomplished efficiently, cost effectively and safely. This includes the management of an inmate labor force.
- Directly manages monitors, inspects, and provides maintenance of facilities that include systems such as HVAC, plumbing electrical, and fire protection. This includes the development of technical scopes of work, the contacting of and coordination with outside specialized vendors, and quality control of all facility maintenance work performed.
- Manages the performance of maintenance on Directorate of Public Works (DPW) Shop equipment and mechanical equipment in DPW facilities. Ensures that maintenance is accomplished in a timely manner to ensure equipment is safe and operational.
- Directs and participates in the preparation of the annual maintenance budget. This includes identifying and developing itemized resource requirement shortfalls, resource justifications, and operational impacts.
- Evaluates personnel and initiates employee training and orientation. Identifies and reports all new required and value-added personnel training.
- Maintains records of employees’ time, work orders, and periodic inspections and prepares necessary reports.
- Maintains records, performs employee evaluations, and enforces Employee Standards of Conduct.
- Performs other duties as required. Complies with hazardous waste management rules and regulations in the work place. Duties assigned are completed as directed. Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are maintained; materials used correctly and excess not accumulated. Responsible for implementing accident prevention procedures and reducing accidents.
