Responsibilities
Serves as a subject matter expert for vertical and horizontal transportation systems. Oversees compliance with Chapter 399, Florida Statutes, and Rule 61C-5, Florida Administrative Code. Serves as primary liaison with the Department of Business and Professional. Regulation (DBPR), Bureau of Elevator Safety. Provides direct supervision, leadership, and accountability for all Elevator Program support staff, including assigned coordinators, inspectors, and technical support personnel, ensuring effective day-to-day operations of the university elevator program.

ResponsibilitiesServes as a subject matter expert for vertical and horizontal transportation systems. Oversees compliance with Chapter 399, Florida Statutes, and Rule 61C-5, Florida Administrative Code. Serves as primary liaison with the Department of Business and Professional. Regulation (DBPR), Bureau of Elevator Safety. Provides direct supervision, leadership, and accountability for all Elevator Program support staff, including assigned coordinators, inspectors, and technical support personnel, ensuring effective day-to-day operations of the university elevator program.
Manages campus-wide elevator maintenance control program including preventative maintenance, service interruptions, shutdowns, and return-to-service approvals. Responds to elevator entrapments and safety incidents, including after-hours emergencies. Maintains asset inventories, budgets, metrics, preventative maintenance records, and prepares reports for Facilities leadership. Coordinates inspections, permits, certificates of operation, corrective actions, and accident reporting.
Oversees contracted elevator vendors, inspections, and documentation. Monitors performance, response times, safety practices, and contract compliance. Assists with procurement, renewals, invoicing, and amendments. Evaluate all FSU Facilities elevators to ensure equipment is being maintained to manufacture's specifications. Ensures safe and reliable elevator operation.
Participates in elevator capital improvement planning. Coordinate with elevator vendor to evaluate campus conditions of equipment to identify if a modernization is required. Collaborate with Facilities PD&C to provide guidance and support when needed as the subject matter expert for elevator modernization. Contributes to the development of Capital Projects and Deferred Maintenance lists. Works closely with Facilities department reps, maintenance supervisors, and campus FLO personnel.
Completes required safety training and complies with all safety standards including but not limited to lock out-tag out, confined space safety, safe handling of hazardous chemicals, participation in campus safety teams, and wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Reports complex and/or unusual problems to the Facilities Superintendent and coordinates with other Maintenance Supervisors and staff as required to complete complex tasks.
Completes other relevant duties as assigned, operates university vehicles.
Bachelor's degree and four years experience related to facilities and/or grounds services or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience. (

A valid Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain one upon hire
