As the Sales Manager, you possess total ownership of the sales experience within your Saks Fifth Avenue store and play a critical role in achieving the company’s objectives. You facilitate partnerships across functions, leverage team skills to build a customer‑centric sales experience, and act as a steward of the Saks Fifth Avenue brand. Your focus includes driving sales by developing clienteling skills of a high‑performing direct‑report team, coaching on the floor, and building sustainable relationships through exceptional service and outreach.
Key Responsibilities- Recruit, onboard, and manage new hires, including training and career development.
- Set clear goals for direct reports, monitor performance, provide feedback, and coach on improvement opportunities.
- Develop associates’ personal brand as a fashion authority, leveraging social media to build a fashion influencer presence.
- Lead education initiatives focused on product knowledge, client events, targeted selling, and clienteling.
- Promote a positive environment of achievement, recognition, and celebration.
- Resolve work‑related concerns and conflicts promptly and fairly.
- Empower the team to own and resolve internal and external customer issues quickly.
- Oversee scheduling of associates in line with promotional calendar and business needs.
- Encourage open feedback and continuous improvement within the team.
- Model strong communication and challenge status‑quo appropriately.
- Deliver exceptional client experiences, plan and support client appointments, and promote in‑store events.
- Collaborate with store leadership, marketing, vendors, and merchants to execute client‑development initiatives.
- Use data‑driven methods to identify client spend patterns, opportunities, and increase wallet share.
- Drive new client acquisition and strengthen existing relationships through marketing tools, social media, referrals, and networking.
- Utilize clienteling tools to deliver personalized service and make targeted recommendations.
- Stay informed on new merchandise deliveries to maximize selling potential.
- Execute store‑level plans to build strong client relationships and meet client‑development goals.
- Analyze customer behavior, trends, & preferences to adjust processes and standards.
- Support audit compliance for department & stockroom controls.
- Track progress against departmental strategies and share best practices to improve performance.
- Demonstrate decision‑making, problem definition, data analysis, and hypothesis testing.
- Champion change initiatives and explain benefits to the team.
- Relevant experience and supervisory experience managing a team of direct reports.
- Proven track record of success managing a selling and operations workforce and achieving business results.
- Proficiency in utilizing available technology, including clienteling tools and social media (social selling), and Google Workspace programs.
- History of building, leading, motivating, and coaching teams to achieve objectives.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
