Plant Maintenance Manager - 2nd Shift 2 PM - 10 PM Position Summary
The Plant Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading maintenance operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable performance of all plant facilities and processing equipment. This role combines advanced mechanical and electrical expertise with strong leadership skills, supervising maintenance teams while supporting continuous improvement in a high-demand, food-grade processing environment.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Complete and manage all work orders through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Perform emergency repairs and corrective maintenance on plant and processing equipment.
- Prepare buildings and processing equipment for seasonal start-up and shut-down.
- Read and interpret equipment operation and maintenance manuals, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
- Provide operational support on equipment and coordinate parts procurement and repairs with the Maintenance Coordinator.
- Train personnel on proper procedures to complete daily, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual preventive maintenance (PM) tasks.
- Fabricate materials and develop corrective solutions to resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with the Maintenance Manager, Plant Managers, Operations Supervisors, and Maintenance Coordinator.
- Supervise work and manage time effectively with minimal or no direct supervision.
- Maintain a work schedule of a minimum of six (6) days per week and up to twelve (12) hours per day, including required weekend work.
Education and Experience
- 5–8 years of maintenance experience in a food-grade industrial or agricultural processing facility preferred.
- 5–8 years of electrical and troubleshooting experience, with certifications or documented technical training.
- Manage employee time effectively, including scheduling, shift coverage, overtime planning, and labor prioritization to meet operational demands.
- Required hands-on experience with:
- Compressors (air and refrigeration)
- Industrial conveyor and belt systems
- HVAC systems
- Boilers
- Strong working knowledge of electronic circuitry, PLCs, and VFDs.
- PLC programming experience required.
- Demonstrated willingness to pursue continued education through outside training courses and hands‑on equipment training.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop maintenance teams of 4–10 employees.
- Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with employee scheduling, training, onboarding, and performance development.
- Ability to promote safe work practices, accountability, and continuous improvement within the maintenance team.
