Job Summary
The Automation Manager provides leadership and strategic oversight for facility automation systems within a cannabis cultivation and production environment. This role is responsible for overall system performance, reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement of automated systems and production equipment. The Automation Manager leads and develops the automation team, ensures completion of preventative and corrective maintenance programs, and drives operational efficiency through data analysis and process optimization.
This position partners cross-functionally with cultivation, harvest, production, quality, and leadership teams to align automation performance with company production goals while maintaining regulatory compliance and safety standards.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and oversee daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance programs.
- Lead, coach, and develop Automation Specialists and maintenance personnel.
- Establish and monitor KPIs related to equipment uptime and system reliability.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and automation system failures.
- Manage budgets, parts inventory, and capital improvement initiatives.
- Oversee vendor relationships and outside contractors.
- Ensure compliance with state and local cannabis regulations and company SOPs.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and increase productivity.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support production goals.
- Conduct training and perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in automation, maintenance, or industrial systems required.
- Demonstrated leadership experience supervising maintenance or automation personnel.
- Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, PLC, and automated control systems.
- Experience developing preventative maintenance programs.
- High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
- Experience in automation or maintenance is required.
- Relevant technical certifications preferred (OSHA, electrical, PLC, industrial maintenance, etc.).
