The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
Responsibilities- Support operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hydraulic, diesel, and pneumatic systems for transporters.
- Complete transporter projects by training and guiding technicians.
- Apply engineering skills to perform ground system transporter engineering projects that meet stakeholder expectations, system functional requirements, and NASA program requirements.
- Prepare system requirements, technical assessments, and operation and maintenance documentation for transporter systems.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or an equivalent technical degree from an accredited institution; at least four years of experience.
- Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License.
- Experience with operation and maintenance of hydraulic, diesel, and pneumatic systems desirable.
- Knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance, condition-based monitoring, and predictive testing and inspection techniques desirable.
- Experience developing project plans, system requirements, and hazard analysis.
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and specification charts.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to present information to upper management and customers.
- Functional knowledge of Maximo, Solumina, or other similar work authorization tools desirable.
- Ability to work at heights and use proper equipment; may be required to climb stairs, wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other PPE.
- Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing; must be able to use stairs and access remote structures.
- Must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of emergency; may require work inside/outside throughout the test complex.
- May require daily travel to different areas on site.
- May be required to climb stairs or ladders to access equipment.
- Must wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other PPE.
- Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
- Requires walking, standing, use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
- Must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in case of emergency.
- May need to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
- May require daily travel to different areas on site.
- Walking on uneven terrain, including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand; ladder and platform climbing may be necessary.
- All work must be conducted safely in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.
- Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules.
- Variety of equipment used in testing.
- Full-time work hours.
- May require occasional overtime, including weekend work.
- Must be dependable and punctual.
- Shift work may be required.
- Accurate written and verbal communication.
- Travel to support position, possibly airline travel.

- Grooming and dress must be appropriate and not pose safety hazards.
- Must comply with all drug-free workplace requirements and mandatory drug testing.
- Government security clearance may be required in the future.
