Job Description

As part of a hardworking team of diverse Welders, Fabricators, and Engineers, you will fabricate/weld hardware for various spaceflight systems supporting fluid components typically using TIG/304/304L or 316/316L stainless steel, designed to ASME B31.3 standards. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of these operations ensuring safety, quality, and productivity. Mechanical aptitude, ability to follow detailed technical instructions and clearly communicate both verbal and written instructions is paramount.

In this role you will collaborate with engineering to implement and refine new manufacturing processes.

This position will report to the Weld Shop Supervisor and directly supports our manufacturing integration teams. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 10+ years GTAW welding experience in an aerospace or precision manufacturing production environment.
  • 10+ years experience in stainless steel cryogenic installations, typically familiar with 2G, 5G and 6G positions per ASME B31.3.
  • 10+ years of experience welding materials such as stainless, Inconel or Monel.
  • Ability to fabricate and use large cutting saws, punches, formers, brakes and standard hand tools.
  • Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50lbs.
  • Bend/kneel, stoop/crouch, twist/turn, grasp/reach overhead and outward frequently.
  • Work requires the ability to change into or out of personal protective equipment when entering or exiting manufacturing, laboratory, or other areas.
  • Work may require the ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift, crane, hoist, man lift, etc.).
  • Ability to travel up to 20% supporting vendor and Blue Origin test facilities.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired
  • Some technical coursework and/or AA technical degree/equivalent.
  • Experience in MIG, FCAW, SMAW, Plasma and OTW is a plus.
  • Experience in structural steel fabrication, supporting PAD construction.
  • Experience in laser cutting, welding automation and/or robotics is a plus.
  • Knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Current GTAW certifications in accordance with AWS D17.1.
  • Some level of confidence in aerospace manufacturing specifications for large complex thick wall tubes and pipe, thin wall ducts, and welded assemblies.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment (Forklift, Crane, Hoist, Man-lift, etc.).
  • Work 1st or 2nd shift, as well as weekends and overtime, when necessary.
