ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSElectronic Technician, Maintenance II maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, operates, modifies and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices. Requires an understanding of the interrelationships of circuits, exercising independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, installing wiring, tracing relationships in signal flow, and using complex test instruments. Replacing components, wiring circuits, repairing simple electronic equipment;
and taking test readings using common instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, oscilloscopes, and amplifiers. Work may be periodically reviewed by higher-level lead technician or supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices.
- Receives work assignments from the supervisor.
- Primary duties are inspection, maintenance, modification, repair, and operation of the RIR
980s and FPS-16 Radar systems at A-20 and at C-10 test site, 320W Weibel Radar, and the Data equipment utilizing RICS software. - Helping out on the Flight Termination Equipment at A-3 test site as required.
- Will be subject to cross-utilization in areas such as (but not limited to) ground-to-air radios, microwave communications, and telemetry data collection.
- Uses applicable test equipment such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power meters, frequency counters, etc. in the course of inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic systems with little oversight from other technicians.
- Will be required to climb ladders, towers, platforms, etc. to facilitate maintenance and repair of antennas and related electronic or mechanical systems.
- Primary work environment is indoors in a climate controlled building, but will be required to work outdoors in cold, heat, dust, and high humidity.
Additional duties may be assigned to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas such as environmental, safety and security. Other functions include assisting in the orientation and training of other technicians at this level when directed by the supervisor. Will perform general housekeeping and other job-related tasks. May be required to handle hazardous material/hazardous waste.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSMust be a technical or service school graduate in electronics with two years' experience as an Electronics Technician.
Experience:
Minimum two years' experience as an Electronics Technician working in radio frequency (RF) systems field. Ground radar experience highly desired. Level of skill and experience will determine entry pay level.
Must be familiar with RF principles and able to use applicable test equipment such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power meters, frequency counters, etc. Must be able to read technical data and schematic diagrams with minimal assistance.
OTHER REQUIREMENTSCandidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Applicants must be able and willing to adhere to all applicable safety and environmental policies as well as wear of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, earplugs, harnesses, etc. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.
WORK ENVIRONMENTPrimary work environment is indoors in a climate controlled building, but will be required to work outdoors in cold, heat, dust, and high humidity.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSMust be able to climb antenna towers with ladders/safety devices to heights of 45 to 100 feet and lift 50 pounds unassisted.
