Harris is seeking a Senior Associate, Manufacturing Engineering to support production of next-generation, high-speed avionics hardware. This role supports manufacturing engineering activities related to the development, documentation, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes for complex electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies, with a focus on safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency. The selected candidate will support the production of circuit card assemblies (CCA), sub-assemblies, cable/harness assemblies, chassis assemblies, and higher-level system integrations.
This individual will work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Test, Reliability, Design Engineering, Supply Chain, and Program teams to help resolve production issues, maintain process documentation, and support daily manufacturing execution to meet customer requirements. This position is well suited for an early career engineer with foundational experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering principles, strong technical aptitude, and the ability to learn quickly in a production environment.
Familiarity with electronics manufacturing processes, tooling, process documentation, and printed circuit board fabrication and assembly is beneficial.
Essential Functions:
* Support day-to-day manufacturing engineering activities for production hardware to ensure safe, efficient, and repeatable processes
* Assist with development, documentation, implementation, and improvement of manufacturing processes for complex avionics hardware including CCAs, microelectronic assemblies, cable/harness assemblies, chassis, and higher-level assemblies
* Create, update, and maintain Assembly Method Sheets (AMS), work instructions, process flows, and other manufacturing documentation
* Support manufacturing technicians and operators by providing technical assistance related to processes, work instructions, tools, and fixtures
* Assist in identifying manufacturing issues and support implementation of corrective actions to improve quality, yield, and throughput
* Support evaluation of manufacturing methods and workflows to improve efficiency, standardization, and producibility
* Assist with design and development of manufacturing tools, fixtures, and process aids
* Support creation of manufacturing fixturing using in-house additive manufacturing resources and other tooling methods
* Participate in root cause investigations related to nonconformances, recurring defects, and process escapes
* Support MRB activities through data collection, hardware review, and follow-up actions as needed
* Review drawing revisions and parts list updates for manufacturing impact and support incorporation of engineering changes into production
* Collect and analyze process data to support trend identification and continuous improvement activities
* Support lean manufacturing and process improvement initiatives to reduce waste and improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost
* Communicate effectively with internal teams regarding manufacturing issues, priorities, and status
* Prioritize and execute assigned tasks in an environment with multiple concurrent activities
* Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance and/or a FAA Public Trust Clearance
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience. Preferred Additional
Skills:
* Working knowledge and general understanding of IPC
-6012, IPC-6013, IPC-A-600 and IPC 6018
* Background in manufacturing of electronics for Military and Government Systems
* Experience in Lean principles; mistake proofing, 3P, 5S+1, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Root Cause Analysis, Cause & Effect, Gemba, Pull-Flow, etc
* Familiarity in Control or similar MRP based system and Aegis based Manufacturing Execution System
* Experience with Automated chemical dispensing process development
* Experience with Automated/Semi-automated torque tools process development
* Knowledge in AutoCAD and/or Pro-E, technical writing, MS…
