The Flagler Museum seeks an organized, collaborative, and highly motivated Communications Manager to coordinate and execute integrated communications initiatives that advance the Museum’s Mission, programs, and audience engagement goals. Reporting to the Director of External Affairs, the Communications Manager serves as a central connector across the institution, helping plan, manage, and implement communications campaigns that support exhibitions, Membership, advancement, education, special events, public programs, and visitor engagement.

This role oversees communications workflows, coordinates project timelines, manages media partnerships and execution of communication campaigns, manages email marketing efforts, and ensures that messaging remains timely, accurate, and aligned across channels.

As the Museum continues to grow and expand its reach, the Communications Manager will play a critical role in strengthening operational effectiveness, supporting cross-department collaboration, and enhancing audience engagement through effective, well-coordinated communication.

Responsibilities Communications Planning and Campaign Execution
  • Coordinate the planning and execution of integrated communications campaigns that support Museum initiatives, exhibitions, events, educational programs, membership activities, fundraising efforts, and institutional priorities.
  • Develop project schedules, communications timelines, and campaign workflows to ensure projects are completed efficiently and on deadline.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify communications needs, establish priorities, and coordinate deliverables across departments.
  • Monitor campaign progress and ensure consistent implementation across print, digital, and social media channels.
  • Manage relationships with media partners and advertising vendors to support institutional visibility and audience development goals.
  • Coordinate the planning, placement, and tracking of paid advertising across print, digital, broadcast, and community media outlets, ensuring alignment with campaign objectives and budget parameters.
  • Negotiate and oversee media sponsor ships, promotional partnerships, and advertising opportunities that enhance awareness of Museum exhibitions, programs, events, and initiatives.
  • Monitor advertising performance and media partnership outcomes, providing recommendations to improve effectiveness and audience reach.
Digital Communications and Audience Engagement
  • Manage day-to-day digital communications activities, including website content updates, email marketing, social media coordination, and digital campaign implementation.
  • Develop and publish engaging content that strengthens audience relationships and promotes Museum programs and initiatives.
  • Monitor audience engagement metrics and recommend opportunities to improve performance, reach, and effectiveness.
  • Support the growth of the Museum’s digital audiences through thoughtful content planning and audience-focused communications.
Email Marketing and Content Development
  • Lead the planning, production, scheduling, and deployment of email communications for members, donors, visitors, educators, and other stakeholder groups.
  • Coordinate content gathering, editing, approvals, and distribution for email campaigns and newsletters.
  • Maintain email marketing calendars and ensure communications align with broader institutional priorities.
  • Track and analyze email performance metrics to inform future communications planning and audience engagement efforts.
Workflow and Project Management
  • Serve as a key coordinator for communications requests, helping manage priorities, deadlines, approvals, and production schedules.
  • Maintain communications calendars and project tracking systems to support effective planning and resource allocation.
  • Facilitate communication among departments to ensure projects move efficiently from concept to completion.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, streamline workflows, and enhance cross-functional collaboration.
  • Support the department’s operational effectiveness as communications activities continue to expand.
