SUMMARY:

The Marketing and Public Relations Manager leads the development, coordination, and execution of the Museum's marketing and public relations initiatives to increase visibility, strengthen community engagement, and support attendance and revenue goals. Responsibilities include developing and implementing communication strategies; overseeing advertising, promotions, social media, website content, publications, and media relations; supporting special events and marketing-related grant writing; and collaborating with an external marketing firm on strategic planning and implementation.

The Manager also develops, tracks, and manages marketing budgets and expenditures, reviews performance against approved budgets, and helps ensure the effective use of marketing resources. Additionally, this position cultivates relationships with donors, sponsors, media representatives, and community organizations; monitors marketing trends and campaign results; supports fundraising efforts; and ensures consistent, accurate messaging across all platforms.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develops, coordinates, and implements the Museum's marketing, communications, and public relations activities in support of its mission, attendance, membership, program participation, special events, fundraising, and revenue goals.
  • In collaboration with Museum leadership, appropriate staff, and the Museum's external marketing firm, develops and implements an annual strategic marketing plan designed to attract and retain Museum visitors, program participants, members, donors, and event attendees from local and regional markets.
  • Develops, tracks, and manages the Museum's marketing and public relations budgets. Monitors expenditures against approved budgets; reviews invoices, media purchases, and agency charges for accuracy; maintains supporting records; and provides regular reports on budget performance and anticipated needs.
  • Coordinates the work of the Museum's external marketing firm and other marketing vendors, including project planning, schedules, deliverables, creative development, media placement, performance reporting, and adherence to approved budgets.
  • Develops and implements communications strategies that keep the public informed about the Museum's mission, programs, exhibits, events, accomplishments, and community impact while ensuring consistent and accurate messaging across all platforms.
  • Plans, coordinates, and evaluates the Museum's advertising and promotional activities, including print, digital, outdoor, radio, television, email, direct mail, and other appropriate media. Researches advertising opportunities and recommends placements based on audience, cost, and anticipated effectiveness.
  • Oversees the development, production, and distribution of Museum publications, brochures, advertisements, press releases, public service announcements, and other promotional materials.
  • Writes, edits, and maintains content for the Museum's websites, publications, email communications, and other marketing platforms. Coordinates website design, content, and creative updates with appropriate staff and outside service providers.
