PURPOSE: The Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Missions is a full-time ministerial staff role whose goal is to lead people from attending church to becoming fully engaged disciples of Jesus by building healthy small groups, creating clear next steps for engagement, and mobilizing our church to serve our community and the world with the Gospel. Success happens when more people are connecting, growing, and going.
KeyResult Areas:
1. Small Groups
- Recruit, train, coach, and care for Small Group Leaders
- Launch new groups each semester with a focus on multiplying leaders
- Ensure every group has clear leadership, curriculum, and ongoing support
- Measure health through participation, leader development, multiplication, and life change
- Create a simple, intentional pathway from first-time guest to fully engaged member
- Oversee follow-up, membership, and next-step processes
- Work alongside ministry teams & leaders to remove barriers that keep people from connecting
- Champion local, national, and global mission partnerships
- Enlist, Equip, Empower, & Encourage members to live on mission every day
- Lead outreach initiatives that align with the church’s vision
- Develop partnerships that produce lasting Kingdom impact
- Identify and develop future ministry leaders
- Build systems that create leaders instead of depending on staff
- Invest regularly in coaches, directors, and volunteers
- Plan strategically
- Steward budgets
- Track measurables
- Communicate clearly with staff and volunteers
- Lead with humility, excellence, and accountability
- Reports to the Lead Pastor
- Works in cooperation with other staff and volunteers
- Oversees staff and volunteers within Small Groups, Connections, and Missions Ministries
- Loves Jesus and models a growing relationship with Him
- Naturally builds teams and develops leaders
- Thinks in systems, not just events or programs
- Takes ownership and solves problems
- Communicates with clarity and positivity
- Works well with staff and volunteers
- Driven by results without losing sight of people
- Bachelor’s Degree required; seminary degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years in a ministerial role with preferred experience supporting small groups, missions and connections.
Salary to commensurate with experience and education plus benefits (insurance and retirement).
