Senior Community Health Nurse

Position:
Senior Community Health Nurse –  (Career Service). Salary: $52,417 – $66,000 annually. Posting closes 05/28/2026.

Supports the Florida Department of Health in Pasco County to protect, promote, and improve public health. Incorporates agency values of Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Responsiveness, and Excellence.

• Provide generalized nursing services, including follow‑up on referrals, in all public health programs.
• Conduct nursing assessments, care, and treatment within Family Health Services programs.
• Document client and process problems, develop nursing diagnoses, utilize electronic health records.
• Assist providers in clinic and conduct pre‑ and post‑interviews on clients.
• Manage assigned programs: case‑management, tracking, and referral to community agencies.
• Perform HIV counseling and maintain associated files.
• Perform triage nurse functions and telephone triage of clinic clients.
• Administer immunizations to adults and children per state and local guidelines.
• Provide counseling and education on all immunizations.
• Assist Physicians and ANPs with client intake, exit, and procedure assistance.
• Clarify treatment plans, perform laboratory tests, follow up abnormal results.
• Handle HIV pre‑ and post‑counseling and testing per policy.
• Manage client care for Family Health Services including Family Planning – Title X, Sterilization, Teens, Immunizations, STDs, Tuberculosis, Hep C, PreP, HIV/AIDS, etc.
• Perform laboratory and diagnostic tests as indicated; manage inventory (supplies, medication, vaccines).
• Maintain Bloodborne Exposure Policy and others; support QI reviews.
• Serve as preceptor for nursing students and trainees; orient/training new staff.
• Travel to other clinic locations as needed.
• Attend workshops, meetings, and staff meetings; participate in professional development.
• Provide nursing services during disasters per Department policy.

• Knowledge of nursing and public health principles.
• Ability to administer medications.
• Effective communication skills.
• Teaching skills for health care.
• Proficient use of Electronic Health Record.

Minimum

• Registered Professional Nurse licensure in Florida (Statute 464).
• Valid Florida driver’s license.
• Reliable transportation.

Preferred

• Six months experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Six months experience using an EHR.
• Valid CPR/BLS certification.
• Proficiency in English and Spanish.
