PositionSummary
The Endoscopy Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, observing, managing, and documenting individual patient care. This includes providing bedside pre‑op, intra‑op, post‑op care and supervision to patients at our Endoscopy Center(s). In addition, the Endoscopy RN must collaborate with the physicians and the physicians’ clinical team to maximize patient flow.
Essential Job Functions- Verify patient identification and ensure armband and chart match.
- Review patient history.
- Complete nursing assessment upon admission, identifying and documenting patient problems.
- Identify special needs or behaviors of patients and families (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, or age‑specific).
- Analyze information and observations and notify appropriate medical personnel of significant concerns.
- Initiate or revise nursing care plans to meet changing patient needs.
- Involve family/significant other and patient in developing a plan of care and communicate rationale.
- Use teaching strategies that meet individual patient needs for post‑procedural care.
- Ensure all pre‑procedure instructions are followed at home (outpatient) and inform appropriate physician.
- Carry out physician orders, questioning the physician if orders are unclear.
- Deliver direct patient care as defined by the Florida State Board of Nursing and/or Endo Center policies and procedures in a safe and competent manner.
- Validate and carry out orders on assigned patients.
- Supervise Scope Technicians under direction in the provision of nursing care.
- Ensure patient privacy and dignity are maintained.
- Assist other team members in rendering nursing care.
- Document patient progress to include condition, medication, and nursing interventions.
- Notify physician of any significant changes.
- Maintain knowledge of care and handling of GI equipment.
- Assist physician intra‑op utilizing GI accessories.
- Assist in janitorial responsibilities as needed.
- Preadmit patients for the next day as time allows.
- Maintain a clean work environment.

- Associate degree in nursing required.
- Must have an active Registered Nursing license in the State of Florida (or a multistate license including Florida).
- CGRN (Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse) credential is preferred but not required.
- Must possess a BLS or ACLS certification or be able to obtain certification within 90 days.
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID‑19 (medical and/or religious exemptions permitted, applicable only if working in an Ambulatory Surgical Center).
