Position Details- Full‑Time Night Shift Opportunities Available
- 36 hours per week, shift time 6:00 pm–6:30 am
The Mother Baby Unit (MBU) at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System provides exceptional postpartum care for mothers, newborns, and high‑risk antepartum patients. Operating 24/7, the unit combines expert skill sets with the welcoming energy of new graduate nurses. Typical nurse‑to‑patient ratios are 1:4 couplets, with occasional 1:2 assignments depending on patient acuity. Care protocols are tailored to meet each patient’s unique needs, ensuring the highest quality outcomes for every family we serve.
OurTeam & Approach
- Mothers newly postpartum or readmitted up to 6 weeks postpartum
- High‑risk antepartum patients with medical diagnoses
- Term and preterm newborns with and without medical diagnosis
- Postpartum readmissions with medical complications
- Support mothers through recovery and transition
- Teach families how to care for newborns with confidence
- Share in the joy of milestones like a baby’s first feeding

Hourly rate is determined by RN experience, education level, and internal equity. Minimum rate: $32.50/hour; maximum: $51.10/hour. Eligible nurses with approved certification receive an additional $1.50 certification pay.
Required Qualifications- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 90 days of hire
- Basic knowledge of commonly used computer applications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a diploma program; for new hires after 2012, a BSN is required
- OB/Neonatal Certifications (Electronic Fetal Monitoring, Maternal‑Newborn Nursing, Low‑Risk Neonatal, Lactation, etc.) maintained throughout employment
- Certification in a nursing specialty area
- BLS:
Basic Life Support / CPR - FL RN:
Florida Registered Nurse License
- ACLS:
