Job Summary

Provides professional nursing care to patients and families in an acute clinical care environment, guided by the SMHCS nursing professional practice model and in accordance with the ANA's Standards of Professional Practice.

Salary

$50.00/hr

General Medical & Surgical Unit (5WT)

General Medical & Surgical is a 32 bed unit that provides care to patients with sepsis, renal failure, pneumonia, traumatic brain injury, UTI, COPD, diabetes, cellulitis, pre & post surgical, and end of life care.

Medical Renal/Wound Care/Diabetes Unit (7WT)

Focuses on patients with a primary diabetes, renal, or wound care related diagnosis, specializing in complex wound care, peritoneal dialysis, and the management of medically stable diabetic keto acidosis and hyperglycemic hyperosmolar non‑ketotic syndrome and intravenous insulin drips.

Medical 1 (10WT)

Medical 1 is a 32 bed inpatient/observation unit serving adult patients who are acutely ill or injured. The unit provides general medical care and treatment and cares for patients requiring comfort measures and end of life. Low volume procedures include PCA pain control management, tracheostomy care, tracheal suctioning, chest tube set‑up and maintenance, and oxygen administration including high flow and Opti‑flow oxygen delivery.

2 (8WT)

Medical 2 is a 32 bed unit created in January 2021. It serves adults fourteen years and older with conditions such as GI bleed, falls, altered mental status, pain, shortness of breath, and infections, providing experience for newer nurses and skill growth for experienced staff.

General Surgical & Short Stay Unit (6ET)

General Surgical is a 49 bed unit that provides care to adult patients, focusing on urological, major/minor abdominal, bariatric, and GYN procedures.

Orthopedics (9

CYT)

Located on two campuses, a 36 bed private room unit and a 32 bed unit, Orthopedics cares for adult patients requiring elective joint surgeries, pre‑ and post‑operative fracture management, traumatic fracture management, bone disorders, spine surgeries, complex bone infections, and other medical and surgical patients.

Medical 3 (4NW)

Medical 3 is a 29‑bed unit, part of the seven‑unit Medical Surgical Division. It cares for adults with kidney disease, falls, altered mental status, pain, shortness of breath, and infections, providing a foundation in critical thinking and skill expansion.

Medical Care Unit (3NW)

Medical Care Unit is a 26 bed unit that provides care for patients with physical health needs and behavioral and/or substance use disorders, addressing chronic diseases, pain, and substance use.

Med‑Surg Oncology (6 OT)

Our 28 bed Oncology Medical and Surgical Inpatient Unit treats gynecology and urology surgery patients, new oncology diagnoses, medical oncology treatment, end of life and palliative care. Nursing care includes supportive care interventions, PCA, epidural management, post‑surgical pain control, blood administration, wound care, diagnosis support, palliative care, and end of life transition.

Med‑Surg Oncology 2 (7 OT)

Our 28 bed Oncology Medical and Surgical Inpatient Unit treats gastroenterology and breast surgery patients, new oncology diagnoses, medical oncology treatment, end of life and palliative care. Nursing care includes supportive care, interventions, PCA, epidural management, post‑surgical pain control, blood administration, wound care, drain management, diagnosis support, palliative care, and end of life transition.

Required Qualifications
  • Basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in a nursing specialty area.
Mandatory Education
  • ASN/ADN Associate of Science in Nursing.
Preferred Education
  • BSN:
    Bachelor of Science Nursing.
Required License and Certifications
  • BLS:
    Basic Life Support/CPR.
  • FL RN:
    Florida Registered Nurse License.
Preferred License and Certifications
  • ACLS:
    Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
