This is an on-site, contract role for a Pain Management Nurse Practitioner based in Sarasota, FL. The Pain Management Nurse Practitioner will assess and manage patients with acute and chronic pain, including conducting comprehensive histories, performing focused physical examinations, and ordering appropriate diagnostic tests. Responsibilities include developing and adjusting individualized pain management plans, prescribing medications in accordance with state and federal regulations, and collaborating closely with physicians and other clinicians to coordinate multidisciplinary care.
The role involves performing patient education on pain conditions, treatment options, medication use, and non-pharmacologic therapies, as well as documenting all encounters accurately in the electronic health record. The Nurse Practitioner will also participate in care team meetings, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and support best practices in safety, compliance, and patient experience.
- Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Florida, with appropriate national certification (e.g., ANCC or AANP).
- Demonstrated experience in pain management, primary care, orthopedics, physiatry, or a related clinical specialty.
- Strong skills in comprehensive patient assessment, differential diagnosis, and development of evidence-based treatment plans.
- Proficiency in medication management for pain, including controlled substances, and familiarity with state prescription monitoring requirements.
- Ability to educate patients and families clearly about pain conditions, procedures, medications, and lifestyle strategies.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, on-site clinical environment and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency with electronic health records, documentation standards, and basic computer and telehealth tools.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and cultural competence skills to serve diverse patient populations.
- Commitment to ethical practice, regulatory compliance, and continuous professional development.
- Graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program; current BLS certification required, ACLS preferred.
