Location: Macclenny
FL-DCF-Macclenny-RN – This facility operates 24/7. Candidates may be required to work 16‑hour shifts as needed.
Orientation is a full two‑week program, Monday‑Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Work EnvironmentThis is a State of Florida Psychiatric Hospital, open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The state‑owned hospital has 613 beds and provides inpatient psychiatric care for clients committed by the state or through the criminal justice system.
Type of PatientsThe hospital accepts adults 18 and older whose needs cannot be met through community‑based programs. The program offers evaluation, assessment, and treatment to clients deemed not guilty by reason of insanity or incompetent, unable to proceed with criminal proceedings.
Minimum Qualifications- Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
- Must hold an unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- One year of acute‑care or two years of clinical nursing experience.
- CPR certified or able to complete training.
- Must be able to complete full orientation at the time of hire.
- Must be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the position, including the ability to lift and carry 20 lbs, remain alert while on duty, and work 16‑hour shifts on occasion.
- Assess resident complaints and determine action, notifying the supervisor when necessary.
- Admit and transfer residents to and from other units or outside sources.
- Administer oral and/or injectable medication and controlled medications in accordance with facility policy and within the scope of practice as defined by Florida law.
- Observe for side effects or adverse effects to medication and report to the assigned supervisor or for further assessment and treatment.
- Prepare paperwork as required for consults within the facility and outside appointments.
- Coordinate residents’ appointments with unit staff to ensure medications are appropriately timed as needed for resident movement to and from the unit.
- Provide emergency medical/psychiatric treatment within scope of practice as defined by the facility and Florida law and notify the supervisor for further assistance.
- Complete incident reports factually and objectively within the appropriate time frame as defined by the facility.
- Complete progress notes on resident care within the appropriate time frame as defined by the facility.
- Be responsive and compliant with current resident rights and advocacy issues, adhering to and complying with facility policy.
- Maintain appropriate and professional behavior during interactions with residents, supervisors, and other staff members.
- Display professionalism throughout employment, including, but not limited to, arriving to work on time, maintaining an accurate timesheet, and maintaining a professional appearance as defined by facility policy.
- Ability to speak and understand English –
