Job Summary
We are seeking an RN Intake Assessment Coordinator to join our Behavioral Health team. You will work in conjunction with the Program Director to coordinate the pre-admission assessment process and provide clinical assessments for potential patients. You will also assist with community education on clinical issues and participate in community events such as health fairs. You will be part of a team that cares like family and works together in a collaborative manner.
Inthis role you will:
- Demonstrate clinical knowledge of psychiatric nursing and maintain the highest quality of comprehensive patient care.
- Respond to all calls for psychiatry services, responding appropriately to the identified needs of the caller and patient, prioritizing calls based on the level of need, ensuring EMTALA compliance at all times, and reporting any concerns to the program director immediately.
- Coordinate communication related to all assessment and admission activities, ensuring rapid throughput for the emergency department, requesting additional resources when needed based on volume, and working with medical staff to move patients to disposition quickly.
- Respond to calls for assessments in the emergency department within 15 minutes and initiate the requested assessment as soon as possible and no later than 60 minutes from the initial request; implement a backup procedure when the 60‑minute time frame cannot be met due to heavy volume.
- Work with inpatient nursing staff to ensure an appropriate bed is available for patients, including moving patients as needed to make beds available quickly.
- Provide education and support related to emergency detention procedures, interventions as needed, completion of paperwork, and addressing process concerns with the emergency department director and medical staff to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the behavioral health sales team to provide data, assure accurate referral data management, and include sales team members in team meetings as needed.
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing (required)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (preferred)
- Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license (required). Compact license holders have 60 days to obtain the Florida license after relocation.
- BLS‑AHA provider‑issued card required within 30 days of start.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification required.
- Prefer 1–3 years’ experience in a behavioral healthcare setting performing clinical assessments.
