Northwest Florida Community Hospital (NFCH) is seeking a dependable and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) team on a PRN Night Shift basis. This is a great opportunity for a CNA who enjoys providing hands-on patient care in a supportive hospital environment while maintaining a flexible schedule.
Position SummaryThe Med/Surg CNA works closely with registered nurses and other members of the healthcare team to provide safe, compassionate care to hospitalized patients. This position assists patients with activities of daily living, monitors basic patient needs, and helps maintain a comfortable and safe environment throughout the night.
Schedule- PRN (As Needed)
- Night Shift
- Availability for weekends and holidays may be required based on department needs.
- Assist patients with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and other activities of daily living.
- Obtain and document vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other information as assigned.
- Assist with patient mobility, repositioning, transfers, and ambulation.
- Respond promptly to patient call lights and requests for assistance.
- Assist with admissions, discharges, and room preparation.
- Observe patients and promptly report changes in condition or concerns to the nursing staff.
- Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and fall-prevention practices.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
- Work collaboratively with nurses and other members of the Med/Surg team.
- Perform additional patient-care duties within the CNA scope of practice as assigned.
- Current Florida Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.
- Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or required upon hire.
- Previous hospital, Med/Surg, skilled nursing, or direct patient-care experience preferred.
- Ability to safely lift, reposition, transfer, and assist patients.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and customer-service skills.
- Dependable attendance and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Ability to lift, move, or assist patients (up to 50+ lbs with assistance)
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout shift
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
