Job DescriptionThe primary function of this position is to perform day-to-day maintenance and repair of County parks, beaches, boat ramps, and grounds.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Check and maintain tools and equipment periodically to ensure proper operation and safety.
- Keep work area clean and organized, and use safety cones and signage when required.
- Complete appropriate paperwork in the performance of daily duties.
- Prepare the work area using appropriate tools for assigned tasks.
- Maintain and repair equipment and structures in playgrounds, tennis courts, volleyball courts, ball fields, beaches, and parks.
- Operate and maintain tools and machinery such as tractors, lawnmowers, trucks, hand tools, and sand trucks.
- Perform daily landscaping, such as pruning trees and bushes and mowing grass.
- Perform athletic field preparation to include painting, chalking, and clay preparation.
- Work nights, weekends, and events as required.
- Perform custodial tasks at all park and beach facilities, including litter pickup and bathroom maintenance, sweeping, mopping, and collection of trash.
- Perform landscaping duties, including pruning, mowing, weeding, and raking.
- Drive County vehicles transporting tools and equipment.
- May be required to collect tolls.
- Perform other related job duties as assigned.
- In the event of special, emergency, or disaster situations, employee may be required to work schedules other than those for which they are regularly scheduled in any capacity deemed appropriate.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years of prior related work experience.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License required. CDL preferred.
- Ability to work from guidelines but determine the approach for doing the work.
- Knowledge of clerical or trades-based tasks.
- Ability to gather, format, or visually analyze data or operate construction or warehouse equipment (moving vans, dump trucks, front-end loaders).
- Ability to work in a responsive environment where co‑workers or citizens bring problems for resolution.
- Ability to work with less than ten co‑workers who are mostly engaged in the same activities.
- The work is heavy and requires exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force to move objects, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Balancing:
Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. - Climbing:
Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. - Crawling:
Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet. - Crouching:
Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine. - Feeling:
Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture, by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips. - Grasping:
Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. - Handling:
Picking, holding, or otherwise working, primarily with the whole hand. - Hearing:
Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. - Kneeling:
Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. - Lifting:
Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. - Pulling:
Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion. - Pushing:
Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward. - Reaching:
Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. - Repetitive Motion:
Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers. - Speaking:
