Job Summary

The Business Unit Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction, driving continuous improvement, and supporting the site Leadership Team. The role oversees all Quality functions, maintains compliance with internal, regulatory, and customer standards, and leads the implementation of the Division Quality System.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the customer’s point of contact for all Quality matters, tasks, and escalations.
  • Define and promote a quality mindset across the site.
  • Manage all Quality functions working collaboratively with cross‑functional leadership to deliver high‑quality products on schedule.
  • Improve, enhance, and maintain the quality system to meet internal guidelines, regulatory standards, and customer requirements.
  • Establish and enforce quality standards, testing procedures, and in‑process inspection standards.
  • Develop standards for the disposition of finished products, rework processes, and documentation system updates.
  • Collaborate with management to develop new product designs, manufacturing, and training methods.
  • Prepare product and process quality reports through data collection, analysis, and trend summarization.
  • Recruit, select, orient, and train quality assurance staff; coach and discipline employees as needed.
  • Plan, monitor, and appraise job results to meet quality objectives.
  • Prepare the quality assurance budget, monitor expenditures, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions.
  • Lead the site quality department and managers to achieve site and divisional objectives.
  • Obtain and maintain all BU certifications (AS9100, ISO 9001, Part 145, Part 21, Safety Management System) and relevant approvals.
  • Execute the quality strategy of the POWER Division and drive quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure the application of the Division Quality System and participate in its continuous improvement.
  • Oversee interfaces with customers, FAA, and DoD regarding Quality matters.
  • Maintain required Quality documents for BU operations and customer Quality Plans.
  • Analyze and implement customer Quality requirements.
  • Define metrics measuring BU performance (customer satisfaction, internal checking, supplier performance).
  • Document discrepancies, propose improvements, and monitor progress.
  • Report on Quality matters: metrics, management reviews, internal communications, and divisional QD.
  • Train teams on Quality principles, the Quality System, and applicable tools.
  • Develop site Quality culture, encouraging a quality‑first mentality and promoting methodologies such as FMEA, APQP, QRQC, and behaviorally focused improvement.
  • Provide status reports and metric updates to the Power Americas Quality Director, Division Quality Manager, and/or site General Manager as required.
  • Establish team‑building activities within the department and cross‑functionally.
  • Accountable for processes and procedures within the Quality scope.
  • Schedule and assign employees for quality assurance operational work, following up on results.
  • Travel internationally and domestically for workshops and training as needed (generally once a quarter or less).
  • Provide additional hours during business peaks or to meet seasonal deadlines.
  • Adhere to safe work practices and contribute to the health, safety, and environmental program.
  • Manage a team of six individuals, including Quality Specialists, Quality Engineers, and a Software Engineer.
Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of AS/EN 9100, Part 21, and Part 145 requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of Quality principles and tools, including audit techniques.
  • Leadership experience in a team environment.
  • Preferred: 2 years of management experience, Green Belt or Black Belt certification, aerospace experience.
