Location: Tallahassee
The Chemist Specialist serves as a senior analyst within the laboratory section of the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Food Safety. The role performs complex analytical work in support of state regulatory testing programs, oversees instrumental operations and technical data review, conducts quality assurance reviews, and provides training to junior analysts. This position ensures compliance with ISO 17025 and Good Laboratory Practice standards while maintaining laboratory efficiency and accuracy.
Keyqualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or biochemistry plus 3 years of professional chemical/biochemical experience
- Master's degree in chemistry or biochemistry plus 2 years of professional experience
- Knowledge of chemical research, analysis, testing procedures and laboratory equipment
- Experience with quality assurance concepts and analytical data management
- Ability to conduct technical review and train laboratory staff
