As a Food Safety & Quality Technician, you will support the daily implementation of our food safety and quality programs, helping ensure that products meet established safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. This is a hands-on position that works closely with Production, Warehouse, and the Operations and Finance Controller Director in a food processing and distribution environment.
Responsibilities- Food Safety Monitoring: Perform routine monitoring of HACCP, FSMA, GMP, and other food safety controls according to established procedures. Document results and promptly report deviations to the Operations and Finance Controller Director.
- Product & Quality Inspections: Conduct routine inspections of products and processes during receiving, processing, storage, and shipping to verify compliance with established food safety and quality standards.
- HACCP & Preventive Controls: Follow established HACCP plans, CCP monitoring procedures, preventive controls, and corrective action procedures. Escalate food safety concerns that require management review.
- Food Safety Documentation: Complete and maintain accurate food safety and quality records, including monitoring logs, inspection forms, sanitation verification records, traceability documentation, and corrective action records.
- Sanitation & GMP Verification: Perform routine checks of sanitation practices, employee hygiene, GMP compliance, and general food safety conditions throughout operational areas.
- Traceability Support: Participate in product traceability exercises and assist with maintaining records required for product identification, tracking, and recall readiness.
- Environmental Monitoring Support: Assist with environmental monitoring activities and sample collection according to established procedures and schedules.
- Labeling & Product Information: Assist with reviewing product labels, specifications, ingredients, allergens, and other product information according to established company procedures.
- Audit Support: Assist the Operations and Finance Controller Director with internal, customer, regulatory, and third-party audits by conducting inspections, gathering records, and providing required documentation.
- Corrective Actions: Document food safety and quality deviations and assist with follow-up activities to ensure corrective actions are properly recorded and completed.
- Employee Food Safety Support: Assist with food safety and quality training for operational employees, including GMPs, sanitation, food handling practices, HACCP procedures, and documentation requirements.
- Operational Support: Work directly with Production, Warehouse, and Distribution teams to reinforce established food safety and quality procedures and identify potential issues on the floor.
- Reporting: Prepare routine inspection summaries, monitoring reports, and other food safety and quality information for review by the Operations and Finance Controller Director
- 1–3 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, quality control, food processing, seafood, or a related food industry environment.
- Working knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, sanitation, food safety practices, and basic FSMA requirements.
- Ability to follow established food safety procedures and accurately identify and document deviations.
- Experience performing product, process, sanitation, or GMP inspections.
- Ability to maintain accurate technical records and documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with Production, Warehouse, and other operational teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on food processing and distribution environment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- HACCP certification or related food safety training preferred.
This position reports to the Operations and Finance Controller Director and works closely with Production, Warehouse, and Distribution teams.
Work EnvironmentThis is a hands-on position requiring regular presence in production, warehouse, receiving, storage, and shipping areas. The role may require walking, standing, and conducting inspections throughout the facility during the workday.
