Research Scientist, Academic, Research Assistant/Associate, Biomedical Science
Location: Tallahassee
Responsibilities
The primary duties of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Management of our transgenic mouse colony, including genotyping PCR.
- Running operant conditioning experiments in mice.
- General lab upkeep, logistics, supplies ordering, and supporting ongoing research.
- The candidate will also be given the opportunity to lead their own project, potentially leading to a scientific publication.

QualificationsA full-time (40 hours/week) lab technician position is available immediately in Dr. Adam Dewan’s laboratory in the Department of Psychology and Program in Neuroscience ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).). Our research focuses on the neural mechanisms of olfactory perception. We use a combination of genetic, optogenetic, optical imaging, and behavioral techniques in mice to explore how olfactory perception is mapped and encoded within the brain.
Required Qualifications- A four-year B.S. or B.A. degree in the life or physical sciences.
- Previous experience working with laboratory animals, ideally rodents.
- Strong time-management skills, a desire to learn new techniques, and the ability to work with a team of other students and researchers.
- A strong interest in laboratory research.
- Previous experience with PCR, behavioral, or histological techniques.
- Previous coursework in genetics, biology, chemistry, research techniques, or animal handling/procedures.

The anticipated starting salary is $16 an hour and will be commensurate with education and experience.
