Responsibilities- Responsible for performing scientific experiments under the direction of the principal investigator related to immunology, infectious diseases, biochemistry, and structural biology.
- Experiments will include tissue culture, processing human and animal blood and tissue samples, performing virus and bacterial experiments, performing lab animal studies, protein expression and purification, immunological assays, managing day to day lab activities, and other related tasks as assigned.
- Assures implementation of safety procedures and instructs lab members in procedures and operation of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain current knowledge of research techniques through library literature and attendance at campus seminars. Presents research findings through lab presentations and seminars.
- Writes manuscripts and assists the PI in reviewing and writing grants. Other duties as assigned.
A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., etc.) in an appropriate field conferred within the last five years is required.
Preferred Qualifications- Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues.
- Prior experience working with rodent animal models.
