Position Overview
Title: Laboratory Technician IV
Division: Division of Environmental Assessment and Restoration’s Chemistry Program, Inorganic/Nutrients section, Tallahassee, FL.
Incumbent prepares and analyzes environmental samples in accordance with laboratory standard operating procedures, maintains records, and performs calculations and data entry for analytical results. This work supports water quality assessments and restoration projects for the State of Florida.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities- Understand basic principles and techniques of chemical analysis or testing.
- Reliably and meticulously follow laboratory testing and analysis procedures.
- Perform calculations necessary to report data in compliance with applicable rules.
- Understand and follow technical instructions relating to laboratory testing and analysis.
- Work independently.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and analyses.
- Perform basic arithmetical calculations.
- Keep accurate and complete records.
- Plan and organize daily workload.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Work a daily schedule from 9 am to 6 pm within a 40‑hour workweek.
- Work after hours or on weekends if requested by the supervisor.
- Stand for long periods of time, perform repetitive movements, and lift and carry up to 30 lbs. (short distances).
At least 2 years of verifiable related experience. Post‑secondary degrees from an accredited university or college may substitute for the required experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
Pay$3,430.84 per month.
