The Busser / Food Runner is a vital member of the front-of-house (FOH) team responsible for ensuring an exceptional guest experience by maintaining a clean, organized dining environment and delivering food and beverages quickly, accurately, and professionally.

This role supports servers, bartenders, and management by keeping service flowing smoothly, assisting with table turns, and ensuring guests receive prompt and attentive service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver food and beverages from the kitchen or bar to guests quickly, accurately, and according to service standards
  • Verify order accuracy, presentation, and proper table placement before delivery
  • Ensure guests have all necessary utensils, napkins, condiments, and accompaniments when food is delivered
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and needs
  • Communicate effectively with servers and kitchen staff to coordinate timing and special requests
  • Clear used plates, glassware, and utensils from tables throughout the dining experience (pre-bussing and bussing)
  • Reset tables efficiently and completely between guests, including linens, silverware, glassware, and menus
  • Wipe down tables, chairs, and surrounding areas to maintain cleanliness and presentation standards
  • Remove trash, debris, and used items from the dining area and ensure proper disposal
  • Transport dirty dishes and bus tubs to dishwashing areas and assist with stacking/sorting as needed
  • Assist servers with refilling drinks, running additional items, and clearing courses
  • Stock and maintain service stations with silverware, napkins, glassware, and supplies
  • Support opening and closing side work, including cleaning, restocking, and organizing FOH areas
  • Maintain cleanliness of service areas, including floors, counters, and trash stations
  • Assist with special projects or additional tasks assigned by management
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment for staff and guests
  • Handle trays, dishes, and equipment safely (may include lifting up to 10–25 lbs and navigating stairs)
  • Adhere to company policies and standard operating procedures
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have a valid driver's license (for delivery responsibilities, if applicable)
  • Must have valid motor vehicle insurance (if using resort vehicles)
  • Ability to stand, walk, and carry trays for extended periods
  • Previous restaurant, hospitality, or guest service experience
  • Familiarity with food safety and sanitation practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Customer-focused attitude and team mindset
Physical Demands
  • Frequently standing and walking throughout shifts
  • Lifting and carrying trays, dishes, and supplies (typically up to 10–25 lbs; occasionally more depending on operation)
  • Navigating dining areas, including stairs and tight spaces
  • Performing repetitive motions such as wiping, lifting, and stacking
Work Environment
  • Fast-paced, guest-facing hospitality environment
  • Interaction with guests, servers, and kitchen staff throughout shift
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday availability may be required
