The Sommelier is a full-time, on-site position based at Little Palm Island in Summerland Key, FL. This role is responsible for curating and managing the wine program, including selecting wines, maintaining inventory, and ensuring proper storage and presentation. The Sommelier will guide guests through wine lists, provide pairing recommendations for menu items, and lead tastings or educational experiences to enhance the dining journey.
Daily responsibilities include collaborating closely with culinary and food & beverage teams, supporting wine sales, training service staff on wine knowledge, and upholding service standards in all guest interactions. The role requires a strong presence in the dining areas, proactive guest engagement, and consistent alignment with the resort’s luxury service ethos.
- Demonstrated sommelier expertise, including wine pairing and comprehensive knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and service standards.
- Experience in wine sales with a focus on guest engagement, recommendation-driven upselling, and enhancing overall revenue through thoughtful wine selections.
- Strong background in food & beverage operations, including coordination with culinary teams and understanding of fine-dining service protocols.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with guests, training team members, and collaborating across departments.
- Certification from a recognized sommelier or wine education program (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET, or equivalent) preferred.
- Prior experience in luxury hospitality or fine-dining environments strongly beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, with a professional and service-oriented demeanor.
- Reliable, detail-focused, and capable of maintaining high standards of guest service and product knowledge.
