PURPOSE:The Food Transporter ensures the safe and timely delivery of nutritious meals to children in the RCMA program, supporting their health, development, and learning by maintaining food safety and contributing to a positive mealtime experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following; however, other duties may be assigned.
Food Transportation and Delivery:- Safely operates a vehicle in all weather conditions
- Picks up the food from the kitchen twice a day.
- Ensures the food is placed in stainless steel containers and in food warmers before transporting from the central kitchen.
- Returns breakfast pans to the central kitchen and repeats procedures for lunch and snacks.
- Places stainless steel containers into the electrical food warmers upon arrival at the center.
- Prepares individual food bowls for each classroom, covers with film or foil paper, and labels each bowl with the date.
- Sets out milk and/or juice for each classroom.
- Observes approved Child Care Food Program (CCFP) meal times and assists the teachers as needed to ensure smooth, timely meal service.
- Ensures, maintains, and documents safe food temperatures.
- Records daily food temperatures on the Food Temperature Log, before leaving the central kitchen and upon arriving at the center.
- Records the daily temperatures for the refrigerator and freezer on the Temperature Log early in the morning.
- Records the number of meals served on the Daily Meal Count within one hour of each meal.
- Cleans and sanitizes the food preparation area after each meal.
- Cleans and organizes refrigerators and freezers weekly to maintain hygiene and proper food storage.
- Washes dishes daily to ensure a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.
- Keeps the food pantry and cabinets clean and organized, ensuring no expired items are stored.
- Follows Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) protocol to comply with food safety standards set by the health department.
- Adheres to all RCMA funding guidelines, Department of Health (DOH), the Child Care Food Program (CCFP), and Department of Children and Families (DCF) regulations.
- Requires attending annual trainings for the Child Care Food Program (CCFP), including Food Program Operations, Department of Health (DOH) Record Keeping, and Civil Rights Compliance.
