Environmental Specialist II
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Division of Aquaculture is seeking an Environmental Specialist II. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in environmental protection, regulation, public health, or food safety; one of the physical or natural sciences; agriculture; or engineering; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six months of experience as an Environmental Specialist I or higher with the State of Florida;
or a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Requires possession of a valid Class E Driver License.
Job duties include determining proper monitoring programs, performing in situ measurement of physical parameters, and collection of water and tissue samples for laboratory analysis. The position also involves conducting computer modeling of environmental water quality parameters, preparing technical reports, and attending meetings and reviewing documents regarding water quality and shellfish.
Knowledge of the terminology, principles, and analytical techniques of the physical or natural sciences is required, along with the ability to collect, evaluate, analyze, and interpret scientific or technical data. Ability to prepare technical reports, understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to environmental programs, and communicate effectively are also necessary.
