This Environmental Specialist III position with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in Tallahassee conducts environmental and geological research and mapping related to Florida's natural resources. The role develops and implements solutions using GIS platforms (ArcGIS Pro, Power Apps, SharePoint) and other software, coordinates GIS standardization efforts, and assists with hydrogeological investigations including water sampling, monitoring, and geologic mapping. Responsibilities include maintaining digital map libraries, automating GIS tasks, supporting research projects, and preparing technical reports and publications.
Keyqualifications
- Skill in Geographic Information Systems and ArcGIS software (Arc Pro, Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst)
- Knowledge of GIS programming, database design, and geodatabase development
- Knowledge of physical and natural sciences principles, data collection, and analytical techniques
- Ability to collect, evaluate, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical data
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to work independently and train and mentor others
