Location: Tallahassee
This intermediate-level position with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection coordinates permitting and reclamation programs statewide. The role involves processing and evaluating mine reclamation plans, dredge and fill permits, environmental resource permits, and compliance issues, with significant fieldwork including wetlands evaluations and site inspections under various weather conditions. The position serves as a liaison between the department, other state and federal agencies, and the public on environmental and mining matters.
Keyqualifications
- Four years of verifiable related experience in engineering, environmental science, natural science or social science
- Ability to perform field inspections and endure physically demanding fieldwork including traversing difficult terrain
- Knowledge of habitat management, reclamation, restoration and Florida ecosystems
- Strong report writing and computer skills, including GIS experience
- Ability to communicate effectively, work independently and as a team, and manage complex workloads
