minimum qualifications:
  • ten years of professional experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities of this position.
  • a degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in marine biology, life, or physical science may substitute for the required experience as follows:
  • bachelor of science degree and six years of professional biological experience in a field or laboratory program; or
  • a master of science degree and four years of professional experience in a field or laboratory program; or
  • a doctorate and two years of professional experience in a field or laboratory program.
preferred qualifications:

preference may be given to candidates with the following qualifications:

  • master of science degree in biological science or a closely related field.
  • minimum of four years of experience related to this position’s job duties.
requirements:
  • employment in this position is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal history check, including fingerprinting, in accordance with chapter 435, florida statutes.
  • working hours will vary at times and require work on holidays, weekends, and evenings; hours may exceed eight hours per day or forty hours per week.
  • some travel is required and may include weeknights, weekends, and holidays.
  • the incumbent will be required to submit a financial disclosure form upon hire and annually thereafter in accordance with section 112.3145, florida statutes.
  • responses to qualifying questions should be able to be verified by skills and/or experience stated on the profile application/resume. Information should be provided regarding any gaps in employment.
  • knowledge of basic computer applications including word, excel, outlook, teams, and power point.

this position serves as section leader of the division’s analysis and rule making section, which coordinates and develops marine fisheries policy and rule making for state-managed species, and oversees established management programs.

  • supervision, leadership, planning, evaluation, and administrative assistance to the analysis and rule making section staff in the development of marine fisheries management policy and rule making and the implementation of established management programs.
