The OPS Environmental Specialist II works for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Environmental Assessment and Restoration in Tallahassee. This intermediate-level position provides bioassessment and quality assurance support, including field and laboratory sampling, SOP training delivery, data analysis, and audit support. The role involves conducting environmental field sampling, preparing training materials, writing assessment reports, and participating in the division's bioassessment workgroup.
Keyqualifications:
- At least 5 years of verifiable related experience in environmental science or equivalent post-secondary degree in relevant fields
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance principles and environmental field sampling techniques
- Ability to collect water quality and biological samples while following strict QA procedures
- Ability to write and edit environmental assessment reports and provide scientific data review
- Valid Driver's License; occasional travel including overnight trips
- Preferred:
Knowledge of DEP SOPs and biological assessment techniques; experience conducting field and laboratory audits
