The Chemist III conducts complex analytical work and develops analytical methods in support of Florida's state regulatory testing program. The position is located in the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Food Safety, Bureau of Laboratories, and involves training analysts, evaluating new laboratory technologies, ensuring quality assurance compliance, and maintaining laboratory operations.
Key qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or biochemistry with 2 years of professional chemical/biochemical experience, OR Master's degree with 1 year of professional experience, OR Doctorate in chemistry or bio
- Knowledge of chemical research, analysis, and laboratory testing terminology, concepts, and techniques
- Knowledge of quality assurance concepts and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards
- Skills in scientific instrumentation technology and experimental design
- Ability to develop analytical methods and provide technical training to laboratory staff
- Occasional travel required
