Senior Security Guard (Multiple Vacancies).

Location:

Tallahassee, FL. Regular. Full-Time.

Department:
This position is within the Florida State University department of Public Safety.

• Security of Florida State University's main campus; assignment location as needed by the department.
• Provide a uniform security presence to deter and prevent criminal, unsafe, or potentially dangerous activity on the main campus, with duties including safety and security services for the Oglesby Student Union and adjacent areas.
• Observe and analyze suspicious persons and incidents on or adjacent to FSU properties and report matters to the police department.
• Assist FSU staff, Police, and emergency personnel during emergencies or disruptive situations.
• Challen ge or report unauthorized or suspicious subjects to FSUPD immediately; maintain visual contact of trespassers or suspicious persons and assist in coordinating police response to intercept these persons.
• Report facility or property safety/security concerns to appropriate staff for evaluation and action.
• Respond to emergencies and unusual, suspicious, or extraordinary conditions; notify law enforcement of incidents or activity as needed.
• Patrol and monitor the student union and surrounding FSU facilities to ensure campus and visitor safety and well-being.
• Conduct frequent inspections of assigned security equipment, portable radio, and vehicles; notify supervisor of equipment needs and repair/replacement requirements.
• Work special events or assignments outside normal hours (such as sporting events, VIP details); perform duties related to crowd control and traffic direction for vehicular and pedestrian movement.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Chief of Police or designee, not prohibited by law or regulations.

• High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience. Post-high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including moving up to 30 lbs.
• A valid Florida or Georgia driver’s license or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
