The Florida State University Coastal and Marine Laboratory (FSUCML)

• This position installs, maintains, and repairs FSUCML shellfish hatchery facility and physical plant systems lab wide, including electrical; HVAC; general plumbing and seawater.
• This position assists in project planning by producing cost estimates and procurement; reads and follows blueprints and other verbal or written instructions; and completes repair orders.
• Drives University vehicles as required.
• Responsible for other duties as assigned within the department.

• High school diploma/equivalency and two years of experience.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of this position, which include repeated bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, and working under extreme outdoor conditions.
• Must have a valid Florida or Georgia Driver's License, or the ability to obtain prior to hire.

• Experience in maintaining Sea Water Systems.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to meet project deadlines.
• Ability to perform accurately in a detail oriented environment.
• Ability to utilize problem solving skills.

• Knowledge of and ability to identify safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to establish a safe work environment.
• Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations.
• Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
• Knowledge of the practices and the ability to perform skilled carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or other related trades work.
• Knowledge of general maintenance principles, practices, and techniques.
• Working knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office.
