Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform a wide variety of semi‑skilled maintenance and repair work in one or more trade disciplines (e.g., electrical, masonry, plumbing, carpentry). Performs all work according to established safety standards, building codes and regulations applicable to the work. Employees in this classification have previous experience in the trade, and can perform tasks independently, though work remains subject to review and inspection during and upon completion of assigned tasks.
EssentialFunctions
- Utilize the Facility Maintenance Accountability Program and Facilities Work Order System to perform general and specialized tasks in the construction, renovation, modification, installation, and repair of buildings, apparatus and facilities in one or more trade disciplines, e.g., electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, locks; maintain detailed records for each facility assigned.
- Perform general maintenance, replacement tasks and minor plumbing repairs to restrooms, drinking fountains and plumbing fixtures (e.g., repairing valves and fixtures, repairing and replacing old lines, replacing broken fixtures, unblocking sinks and toilets).
- Perform various semi‑skilled carpentry tasks (hang doors, install shelving, install drywall).
- Perform minor electrical repair, replacement and installation tasks of various electrical components (e.g., ceiling fans, light fixtures, electrical switches).
- Perform various special projects (painting, carpentry, plumbing, locks, office remodeling, renovate and replace partitions and flooring).
- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections on County buildings.
- Assist with public safety emergency response.
- Perform related work as required.
- In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and shall be required to perform alternate duties.

Minimum Qualifications- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in highly‑skilled laboring or building maintenance work; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
Flagler County is a drug‑free workplace; some positions may require a pre‑employment drug screen.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- General knowledge of the methods, tools, equipment and necessary safety precautions used in general maintenance and repair work.
- Knowledge of current codes and regulatory standards governing facilities construction, maintenance and repair.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
