Job DetailsThe Plumbing Technician supports maintenance, repair, and installation work related to building water systems across a portfolio of commercial properties. This hands‑on role performs a mix of plumbing and utility‑related work within landlord‑maintained areas, supporting accurate utility tracking and water system performance through fieldwork, inspections, documentation and collaboration with licensed plumbing contractors and third‑party billing and meter reading services.
PrincipalDuties & Responsibilities
- Perform plumbing maintenance, repairs, and minor installations related to building water systems, including piping, valves, and related components.
- Assist with plumbing‑related projects and building improvements within commercial properties.
- Support the installation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of water meters and related equipment.
- Perform diagnostics to identify and correct meter inaccuracies, signal issues, and equipment failures.
- Evaluate building water systems to identify maintenance needs, access issues, or system concerns.
- Respond to service requests and troubleshoot water‑related issues across multiple properties.
- Coordinate with property managers and tenants to schedule installations, inspections, and repairs.
- Assist licensed plumbing contractors as needed during larger repairs or regulated work.
- Maintain detailed records of service work, equipment, and readings.
- Respond to urgent service needs, including occasional after‑hours calls.
- Travel throughout assigned territory to support fieldwork at multiple commercial properties; some overnight travel may be required.
- 3–5 years of experience in plumbing, water metering, utilities, maintenance, or a related technical field, preferably in commercial properties.
- Hands‑on experience with plumbing repairs, maintenance, or installations involving building water systems.
- Experience with submetering systems and remote monitoring equipment (Next Century or similar) is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with water system layouts, backflow devices, and commercial plumbing components.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Clear communication, organization, and independent work habits.
- Flexibility to respond to emergencies or time‑sensitive issues.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Lift up to 75 pounds and operate tools and equipment.
- Manual dexterity for handling small parts and wiring.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights up to 30 feet.
- Regular walking, driving, and physical activity across multiple locations.
