Position Summary
Amentum, a global leader in critical mission support, engineering, technology, and national security solutions, is seeking a Maintenance Carpenter to support a government contract based in Jacksonville, Florida forms duties described in the Service Contract Act Service Order MAINTENANCE CARPENTER. May perform duties of other classifications that have a pay rate equal to or lower than the employee’s current rate. Work will be performed at Mayport Naval base.
Responsibilities- Perform carpentry duties necessary to maintain in good repair building woodwork and equipment such as bins, cribs, counters, benches, partitions, doors, floors, stairs, casings, and trim made of wood.
- Planning and laying out of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions, using a variety of carpenter's hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments; using standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work; and selecting materials necessary for the work.
- In general, the work of the maintenance carpenter requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
- Independently performs installation, maintenance, construction/fabrication, modification, assembly, repair, removal, building, sanding, finishing, glazing, etc., of facilities, cabinets, furniture, displays, stairs, doors, roofs, partitions, GSA partitions, walls, ceilings, stages, truck beds, magnetic boards, floor tiles, concrete forms, etc.
- Works from written or verbal information, blueprints, sketches, specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
- Set up, adjust, and use woodworking machines; such as planer, shapers, sanders, saws, etc.
- Erect scaffolding and other rigging, as required.
- Uses precision measuring instruments and shop tools.
- Performs measurements, fit and check reworked, repaired, and modified equipment.
- Maintains logs, records, charts, etc., as required.
- Maintains certifications, licenses, permits, etc., required for performance of assigned tasks.
- May perform other related duties as assigned.
- Completion of Carpenter apprenticeship.
- Two (2) years' experience as a Carpenter.
- Ability to understand and apply instructions written in English.
- Ability to use tools and equipment common to the carpentry trade.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
Lifting: 20% Climbing: 20% Crawling: 10% Special clothing/equipment (PPE wearing): 30% Unusual physical requirements: 20% High noise level: 30% Personal Protective Equipment will be required.
Compensation$36.23 per hour.
